Measure your space
Design your rack
Gather your tools and materials
- A drill
- Drill bits
- Measuring tape
- Level
- Hammer
- Nails and screws
- Pine strip wood
Step 1: Build your spice rack's shelves
The first step is to build the shelves for your rack
- Cut your pine strip wood into pieces that are the same length and width as you want your shelves to be.
- Once you have all of your pieces cut, it's time to start putting them together. If you're using nails, Hammer two nails into each end of each shelf piece. Make sure that the nails are going in at a slight angle so that they'll grip the wood better.
- If you're using screws, drill a pilot hole into each end of each shelf piece before screwing them together. This will make it easier to screw the pieces together and will prevent the wood from splitting.
Step 2: Install your shelves
- If you're using nails, find the studs in your wall and hammer the nails into the studs. If you don't have any studs in your chosen spot, you can use wall anchors.
- If you're using screws, again, find the studs in your wall and screw the shelves into the studs. If there are no studs available, use wall anchors.
- If you're using adhesive, apply the adhesive to the back of each shelf and then press the shelves onto the wall. Leave the shelves to dry for the amount of time specified by the adhesive manufacturer.
